LIFE IS GOOD on Stony Lake
STONY LAKE 2019 CALENDAR PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION

The Stony Lake Property Owners Association will publish a 2019 calendar, to be sold during the summer of 2018 as a fundraiser for the organization’s activities, featuring winners in a Photography Competition running until January 31, 2018.

Photographers are invited to submit photographs taken within the SLPOA boundaries, on Stony Lake or the Channel, or within a half-mile, except at Lake Michigan (we want to limit this to Stony Lake). Photographs can depict any aspect of the environment, plants, animals, scenery, people, buildings and activities, in any season (winter photos are very welcome). Enter by posting your photo here.  Photographs must be submitted electronically. We encourage entrants to post their photographs on the SLPOA Facebook page, but they also must be submitted with an entry form on the website to be seen by the jurors. There is no entry fee and the competition is open to anyone. All winners must have submitted the entry form agreeing to the rules set out below. If the form is not submitted, the jurors will choose another photograph.

Entries will be juried by Matt Ferguson, professional photographer; Libby VanderPloeg, professional designer and illustrator; and Chris Triola, professional textile artist. All have ties to Stony Lake (see below* for brief bios). Twelve winners will be chosen, whose work will accompany a calendar month as selected by the jurors. Only one photograph per person will be selected for the main calendar pages. Each winner selected for a main month photograph will receive a free calendar. Some “runners-up” may be included within calendar pages, but will not receive a calendar. Please limit your entries to five photographs in consideration for our volunteer jurors! Also, please give your entry a descriptive title -- brief or long -- sunset, egrets, water skiers, my favorite fall tree, etc. -- to make it easier for us to locate them during the jurying process, which is done anonymously. Thanks!

Entries will be accepted until January 31, 2018. Photographers are asked to submit horizontal, or “landscape” format photos, or agree to editing to conform to standard calendar layout. Please do not submit files less than 300 dpi. SLPOA reserves the right to adjust winning submissions to accommodate the needs of the printer. Winners will be announced in local media and on our website.
